Licences and attribution

The editor is open source. This page says which licence applies to what, and how to comply if you redistribute it.

The editor

The editor at /editor is compiled from PhotoCraft, dual-licensed MIT OR Apache-2.0 at your option. Both licence texts and the upstream notice ship with the build:

  • /editor/LICENSE-MIT — MIT licence text
  • /editor/LICENSE-APACHE — Apache License 2.0 text
  • /editor/NOTICE — upstream attribution notice (Apache-2.0 requires it to be preserved)
  • /editor/ATTRIBUTION.md — third-party components and their licences

Both licences permit commercial use, modification, and redistribution, including in closed-source products, provided the copyright notice and licence text are kept. Apache-2.0 additionally asks that modified files be marked as modified, and that the NOTICE file be retained.

Trademarks

The ArtCraft name, wordmark and logos are trademarks of their owners and are not covered by the open-source licences. This site does not use them as branding. A modified build that is published or distributed must likewise remove those marks; a plain-text statement that the work is based on PhotoCraft is permitted.

PhotoPSD is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Adobe Inc., and it does not use Adobe trademarks as branding.

Third-party components

The editor build includes components under MIT, Apache-2.0, BSD, CC0 and similar permissive licences, enumerated in /editor/ATTRIBUTION.md with their copyright lines. No component in the build is licensed under a non-commercial or no-derivatives term.

Fonts and site assets

The site self-hosts the Latin subset of Poppins (weights 600 and 700), licensed under the SIL Open Font License 1.1; the licence text is at /fonts/OFL.txt. Chinese text is rendered with system fonts and is not redistributed.

Editor screenshots on this site are produced from the running application and are covered by the same licence as the editor.
